Mike Bitts performed professionally for the first time at age 12 and has over 25 years experience as a performer, recording artist, arranger and teacher. Since 1982 he has been bassist for The Innocence Mission, which has released 8 CDs on A&M, RCA, and Badman record labels, and has performed with artists including Don Henley, Natalie Merchant, and Emmylou Harris. They have also made numerous television and radio appearances including David Letterman and NPR's Weekend Edition Program. Recently Mike performed with fellow band mate Don Peris on nationally syndicated Public Radio International radio program Echoes, performing songs from Don's CD Go Where the Morning Shineth. The Innocence Mission recently released their 10th CD in December 2010.

Mike also does extensive freelance work and has played on numerous recordings and live sessions in styles ranging from Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Country. Mike was also pianist/keyboardist/bassist/French Horn/Music Arranger for the American Music Theatre for several years, as well as serving as interim Musical Director. He has also performed at the Fulton Opera House and The Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster.

In addition to recording, performing and teaching, Mike also serves as organist for St. Mary's Parish in Lancaster, as well as other liturgical ensembles on piano, guitar and bass.
